Inexpensive Blinds that Look Great

Cheap is a relative term. Different people have different ideas about what counts as cheap, and different products are “cheap” at different prices–cheap roman blinds will always cost more than cheap aluminum blinds, for example.

Getting a good deal isn’t all about price; it’s about what you get for the money. Here are two styles that allow you to dress windows on a budget:

Aluminum venetian blinds

These uber-affordable blinds are made of thin slats that hang from a headrail on a cord. The slats allow the blinds to have a thin profile when opened. They stack up small at the top of the window frame, which makes them a good option for sliding doors or patio doors. When you want them out of sight, they will be.

Venetian blinds provide the best light control of any window treatment. You can raise them to any level, and you can angle the slats for your desired amount of privacy.

However, because of the slats, they don’t totally block the light. Some natural light will sneak in around the slats and the sides. That makes venetian blinds a good choice for the living room, bathroom and kitchen, but not ideal for the bedroom.

Aluminum venetians are also durable. They’re moisture-resistant, so they perform well in bathrooms and kitchens. You can find them in a variety of colors.

Roller Blinds

Roller blinds are made of one piece of fabric that hangs from a headrail. A weighted bottom bar keeps them in place when closed.

There are no slats on roller blinds, which means they can provide total darkness. If you opt for a blackout lining and add fillers around the edges of your window, no light will come in your room. However, you’ll only have two options for light control: full open or full closed.

If you want less darkness, look for roller blinds in light-filtering fabrics. They let some light in–even with the blinds closed.

You can also find roller blinds in endearing prints that enhance your décor. Solid color fabrics generally cost less than prints, but roller blinds are affordable either way.

There are several blinds stores in the Greater Cincinnati Ohio area that can help you choose the best options for your budget and décor. On the eastside, Adler’s Blinds is a great choice.
